Commercials Go Online, Get Interactive
Posted on August 20th, 2007 No commentsWatching commercials on TV is quickly becoming the trend of the past. With the broader reach of online Web 2.0 tactics, commercials are turning up online more and more. The latest company to try this innovation is Carnival Cruiseline, making a “Funship Island” virtual experience for users to try out everything from the ship’s piano bar, sundeck and karaoke lounge to onshore activities.
Using interactive websites for businesses, products and services is becoming the new way that companies are reaching out to consumers and appealing to them on a deeper level. As web sophistication increases and more and more marketers take advantage of the medium, we can expect to see a lot more sales activity online.

It’s not new, it’s just that advertisers and clients and have finally bought into the idea. A few years ago, when the mini-cooper. They had one of the most clever interactive “ads” I had seen at the time.
The technology has finally reached a level where it really engages the user— i.e. web 2.0. but the premise of an interactive site to generate traffic and click throughs and stickiness, is actually not that new.
Web users are becoming more and more accustomed to personalization and thus have higher expectations as well when they are approached.
Web 2.0 is rewriting the rules, unfortunately for SEO’ers the challenge is very real to take these slick vehicles and point them north in the organic rankings.
