    We have all read the reports about online ad spending increasing in the United States, but a recent Forrester report is now focusing on the European market. According to the findings, spend on online marketing in Europe is expected to double in the next five years to more than 16 billion Euros.

    Online marketing, including e-mail marketing, search and display advertising, and will account for almost 20 percent of Europe’s marketing budgets.

    With this shift, the report shows that over 50 percent of Europeans are regularly online at home and about 36 percent say they are online instead of in front of the television.

    I think this report is a strong indicator of the growing shift from offline to online resources for entertainment, consumerism and information. Whereas Europe used to lead the race in technological innovations, it seems as though we are now neck-in-neck. It will be interesting to see how this trend continues in the coming years.
