Danny,

That’s a good point, but almost a “pie in the sky” viewpoint. The fact is if you did not or currently do not use Google you are missing out on tons of visits, conversions and ultimately revenues. Ideally all companies should diversify their marketing strategies amongst all outlets, but the unfortunate fact is that PPC on Google’s network works and it is fairly easy to make work.

Regardless, I agree with your point that “the trick is to use the internet, not just Google”.

Google are known for their advertising models more than their search platform in the SEO SEM world.
Google want to be the portal for the internet whether it is search or advertising.
Changing or amending their model was their way of making more revenue which back in the property boom the bidding for keywords was hottly contested.
The way most lead generators operate now is to use google keyword tool to see how much their competitiom is paying on work on longtail keywords or another niche.

Personaly speaking lead generation took a dip when online marketers relied on google for generating leads and didn’t diversify enough.

Look at the deal between bing and yahoo and at its core it is an ad revenue deal to counter act google monopoly.

Trick is to use the internet not just google
