The Olympics are thinking Social…or at least trying too

The Olympics are right around the corner and the media world is in the beginning stage of what I like to call “the Olympics Haze.”  I saw a television spot this morning on The Today Show which immediately followed me heading to the Beijing Olympics website.  When I got there I noticed a link that said My Olympic Story.

The premise behind the idea is that people upload their personal Olympics stories and 100 will be chosen.  The stories will be placed up one a day for the 100 days preceding the games.  With only 28 days left before the games, there are plenty of stories already posted and most are quite interesting.   I don’t know that this was the most ingenious effort the Olympics marketing committee could come up with, but I do give them credit for their attempts at forward thinking.  Next time maybe add a comments section to each story and allow people to converse online.
